Beautiful Thanksgiving Decoration (with modification)

With Thanksgiving almost here, there is no better time than to make some fall leaf decorations. It will make a perfect decoration for when your company comes over or a great gift for you child to bring to their grandparent's, aunt's, or uncle's house for the big day! Thanks to the good folks at Kids Activities Blog, for coming up with this one in particular. So, check out their instructions  and make sure to read the modifications below!

MODIFICATIONS: One of the most important things for a child with special needs - or any child for that matter - is to prepare him for what is coming up. When you are planning on taking a kiddo outside to work on an organized activity, it can be especially important to keep everyone on the same page. So, for this activity, make sure that you explain, to your little one, what you are going to do outside, step by step. Talk about how you need leaves to finish your project. You can even problem-solve where to find leaves together. Once it is established that you're going to go outside, talk about how you are going be looking for leaves. When you find the leaves, you are going to put them in [this] paper bag. Again, each of these steps can be done by you simply explaining it to the child (no more than a sentence) or you can help your little one come to these answers on his own. It's up to you! Make sure you do talk about the types of leaves that are going to be collected (What color? Wet or dry?) Depending on your child, you may even want to have examples of the leaves that you are going to be looking for ready to go, as a great advance visual aide.

Oh, and once those leaves are collected, and you are getting ready to glue them on, make sure to check out my Stop The Glue Mess! post (it'll help if your kiddo is prone to using much more glue than might necessarily be needed).
