So, you're little one loves to glue. Cool. The only kind of glue that she likes to use is the white school glue. You know the kind - the one that comes in the squeezie bottle, not the stick. The one that winds up all over the paper, the table, her hands, in her hair... She is a sticky mess, the table doesn't seem to want to clean up easily, and her work is not a wet, sticky, mush. Here's a quick and easy tip to change this forever:
Just use a RAINDROP of glue. Yep - a raindrop. Show your child what you mean and squeeze out just a... well... raindrop of glue onto the paper while, at the same time, saying the word, "raindrop." Do this two or three times. The auditory cue will help the visual stick. Encourage your little one to be thinking the word, "raindrop," while she is gluing, by saying it for her the first few times.
It seems simple and easy. It is. There are going to be times when your little one will use too much glue anyway. Just go ahead and gently remind them that we use raindrops of glue when we work. This little bit of effort will go a long way.
