Paper Plate, Puffy Paint Earth (with modifications)

This is a wonderful art activity that is just perfect for Earth Day!
It's originally from the Itsy Bitsy Learners website and it has the kids making the planet Earth out of a paper paint and some amazing puffy paint that you can make, right at home. Check out the pictures and the description of the craft and then come on back here and read through my modification. It just might help!

MODIFICATIONS: This activity is a ton of fun. However, you may need a little bit of extra help from losing your kiddo's attention somewhere in the middle, due to the confusion as to what to come next. Before you do anything else, make sure to show your little one a good picture of the Earth, that will really help him to see what the land and the water look like. Then, you can explain the task at hand. Something that also might benefit your child is a sort of visual schedule, taking him step by step, through the whole thing. Fortunately, there are some great pictures of each step along the way that you can show your little one, while you explain what is going to come first and what is going to come next. Finally, and a biggie with any crafts or activity, make sure that you have the materials ready to go before calling your child over to start. There is nothing that causes a child to lose interest in an activity more than a parent/teacher who is not in the moment because they are busy looking for supplies. This can happen so easily so do be sure to try to avoid it, when possible.
