Here's a great craft that will get your kiddo ready for St. Patrick's Day. It can also be adapted for just about any season, for that matter. All you need is a potato, a stamp pad or paint, and a piece of paper. In this case, the piece of paper is going to be cut into the shape of a shamrock. You can check out the details for yourself and then come on back here and check out the modification below for a great way to help your little one get the most out of this activity!
MODIFICATION: I've talked about this before here on Mr. Mike TV, but it definitely bears repeating - especially with an activity like this one. When your little one is painting with that potato, really try to encourage her to "dot" with it as opposed to simply rubbing it around on the page. This is because the act of dotting actually encourages a child to be more specific as to where she is placing that potato. Plus, the motor coordination that a child needs to use to pick up her hand and bring it back down on that paper as opposed to the table is definitely significant. I go into a little more details in my article, Get Even MORE Out of Painting!, so definitely check that out... and have fun!
