Here's another awesome idea from the good people at Everything Preschool. They call it, "Glittering Snowballs." You'll need a balloon, glue, yarn, and some glitter for this one. Once you have your supplies ready, the craft goes like this:
Blow up a small balloon for each child. Have them dip yarn pieces into a mixture of glue and water. Then have them put the yarn over the balloon. Have them do this until the balloon is mostly covered. Finally, pour glitter over the balloon and let dry. When it is dry you can pop the balloon and remove it. These are fabulous snowballs for a winter theme.

MODIFICATION: It will be very, very important for some children who are going to do this activity to be told, well in advance, that they are going to be popping their balloon as part of the craft. 99.9% of the time, the goal of a child is to keep a balloon from popping. Often, when a child fails at this and the balloon pops, there can be tears (or sobs). Don't wait until your little one has begun working on the craft and has already begun to form a picture in her head about what the final product will look like, including the balloon right in the middle of it all. Specifically explain that today, you will be doing something different with a balloon. Today, you will use a balloon to help you make a pretend snowball and, then, you will pop the balloon. When the project is all finished, there will be no balloon inside of it! For kiddos who are sensitive to louder sounds, make sure to let them know, as well, that when it is time to pop the balloon, they can get ready by covering their ears. This way, the pop won't be too loud. With children, a little bit of preparation can go a long way!
