I love Follow the Instructions activities. This one is very loosely based on, "The Little Red Hen." Go ahead and grab it from the Enchanted Learning site and then head below for some thoughts that I had to make this one easier for your kiddos.
MODIFICATIONS: There is a lot going on here. The most important thing that you need to do is break it down into smaller parts for your little ones - and not just each individual step. Definitely go ahead and do that, making sure that you read each step and give your child enough time to complete it before moving on. But, I'm talking about breaking it down even further. Before you tell your kiddo to color the sky blue, make sure to tell her to find the sky and touch it with her finger. Then find a blue crayon. Now, color the sky, Blue, and so on. The more that you are able to break down this sort of activity into manageable pieces, the better off your little one will be and have more chances to develop those, "following directions," skills.
