Matching Winter Pictures! (with modifications)

I came across this really basic, but really cute, winter matching activity on the All Kids Network site. The idea is to draw a line from the picture on the left hand side of the page to its match on the right hand side of the page. Simple, right? Not for everyone! I have known some kids to have difficulty with this sort of thing. After trying to figure out what was going on, I realized that the problem was simply one of being overwhelmed with the amount of pictures that there were to focus on. So, go ahead and grab the worksheet for yourself and then I'll let you know what I did that helped:

MODIFICATION: Basically, to help the children to be as successful as possible at this task, I broke the activity into smaller parts that they could focus on. Along with your little one, go ahead and look at the top left picture and identify it together. Really make sure that the child understands what he or she is looking at. Then, look at the pictures in the right hand column, one at a time from top to bottom, searching for the match. When the match is found, draw the line between the two matching picture and then start again with the next picture down from the top on the left hand side of the page. Help out in this way 2 or 3 times and then let you kiddo give it a try on his own. You'll be amazed!
