Here's a fun and easy activity for you to try: make you own snowflakes with your kiddo! The best part about it is that you don't need to summon the mystical powers of the air and sea to do it. All you need is some coffee filters and some scissors. What you'll do is, simply, fold the filters in half, make a couple of cuts (not along the folded edge), and then unfold. When you do, you'll have a beautiful snowflake to show for it!
MODIFICATION: For the first couple of snowflakes that are going to be done, draw some lines on the coffee filters, on which your child can cut. This will eliminate some of the guess work and could go a long way toward making your child feel more comfortable. You can even go so far as to model it for your child (do it once or twice in front of your kiddo, so that they have an example to watch). A visual example can sometimes make a big difference to a little one. Doesn't feel like these are any big adaptations but, trust me, they are really good ones!
