Patterns For Christmas (with modifications)

There's nothing that puts me in the mood for Christmas like a good set of early childhood activities! That and colorful lights, familiar music, and goofy made-for-TV movies. That's why we've been talking about some of the Christmas activities on the Confessions of A... Homeschooler website. Today, we're going to take a look at a pattern activity. It's on Page 5 of the Activity Pack and has 2 rows of patterns, which include stars, trees, and candy canes. You can get the whole pack right here:

MODIFICATION: Sometimes, looking at all of those pieces available to choose from can be a little bit overwhelming for a child. That, in and of itself, can turn an activity that a child can be successful at with or without a little bit of effort, into one that the child can barely understand, let alone complete successfully. If you think that may be a problem for your little one, try presenting only the 2 correct pictures for each row, holding them close to the pattern row itself. You're kiddo will still be getting that patterning lesson, but without the need to sort through the extraneous pictures first. And that may make the lesson all the more worth while.
