Hanukkah Connect-the-Dots (with modifications)

I always enjoy a good connect-the-dots activity and this one, in particular, is the Star of David and it's perfect for Hanukkah! One of the tricky things about connect-the-dots is that it requires your child to be thinking and doing a whole bunch of different things at the same time. In this case, your kiddo is being asked to recognize numbers and remember their order, to keep track of which number she is up to as she works on the activity, find the appropriate dot, draws straight lines from one dot to the next, and so on. All of this can truly hinder a little one's ability to complete this task. To eliminate some of the problematic stuff, go ahead and write out the numbers from 1-23, on the top or bottom of the page. Then, instruct your little one to keep her pencil on the paper at all times, as she draws lines from dot to dot and, then, searches for the next dot in the sequence. For example, she will put her pencil on the number 1 dot to begin. While holding her pencil there, she will scan your written numbers for the next number. If she forgets what number she is currently on, she can always check the spot where her pencil is waiting. If your child has trouble with connect-the-dots activities, definitely give this tip a try!
