Halloween Pre-Reading (with modifications)

We've worked on recognizing letters this week, let's work on some pre-reading skills, too! When you look at pages 18 and 19 of this Halloween PreK Pack, you'll find boxes that each contain a Halloween picture as well as three letters, in circles, at the bottom of each box. You little ones are being asked to identify the beginning letter sound of the picture and then circle the corresponding letter down below. A way to help kiddos who might not yet be up to this particular challenge just yet would be to write the name of the picture at the top of the box. Then, go over each word with the children, pointing out both verbally and literally, that first letter in the word. This makes the activity more of a matching activity then a letter sound activity, but the idea is to meet each child where they are at and then support them as they move upward - this will do just that.
