House Coloring Follow The Directions (with modifications)
All families live someplace - some live in houses, some live in apartments. Sometimes, families don't all live together. The important part about a family is that they all love each other. We're going to work on a following-the-directions activity that centers on one type of place that a family can live - a house. What you want to decide, and make very clear from the beginning of this worksheet, is whether you want your kiddo to simply follow the directions on the page until he is done or if you want him to wait for you in between each step. There are benefits to either way. If you think that your kiddo is ready to work on the whole thing independently, but you find that he does have some trouble here and there, you can try coloring the words in the instructions the appropriate colors. If that doesn't quite do it, you can also color the actual pictures in the instruction their appropriate colors. Should you decide to work step by step with your kiddo, help him to break the activity down into all of it's small parts. In this way, you are going to be teaching him how to look at this sort of thing independently, so that he is ready when the time comes. Together, look at the flower in the instructions and touch it with your finger. Have him find the flowers on the worksheet and touch them. Great! You found the flowers! The word next to it (which is most likely highlighted by you already) says, red. Ask you child if he can find a red crayon. Now that he has the correct color crayon and has touched the spot that he is going to color in the picture, he is all set to complete this first part. Just keep on going like this through the activity. If you feel like your child can do one on his own, then encourage him to do just that. Have fun!
