Toy Story Number Puzzle (with modifications)

I love Disney movies. So, here's a great activity from a Toy Story activity pack that is, not only, fun, but will also give your little one some practice with recognizing written numbers and putting them in order. Follow the link below to download the preschool pack. The activity that we will be using today is a picture of the whole Toy Story gang, separated by lines into 10 segments. You can find it on page 10. After you've taken a look at it, make sure that you read below. I have a tip that could help.

MODIFICATIONS: First off, if your little one is capable to cutting this picture out in the first place, I say, "go for it!" Typically, children don't get directly on those big ol' lines but they do manage to get close enough. One thing that you do want to make sure of is that you help your child differentiate between the lines that she is supposed to cut on (in between each of the segments) and the ones that she is not supposed to cut (separating the picture segments from the numbers). Because, if she cuts off those numbers, they'll be no using them to help reorder the picture and, well, that is one of the purposes of this activity. You can try highlighting the lines that your little one is supposed to cut to help out. At this point, if your kiddo is having trouble putting the picture back together, and those numbers on the bottom just aren't helping enough, go ahead and draw her out a number line that she can refer to and follow along with, placing each piece from 1 to 10!
