Pre-Writing At Christmas Time (with modifications)

With Christmas less than a week away, what better time is there to talk about pre-writing skills? I'm just kidding! It's always a great time to talk about pre-writing skills... unless your child already knows how to write, I suppose. With that being said, let's talk about some writing practice over at the Confessions of A... Homeschooler website. Pages 6-8 of the Christmas Activity Pack has pictures of Christmas trees and some dotted lies for tracing. Download it from the link below and then join me for some talk about modifications.

MODIFICATION: Sometimes, when our littles ones look at those lines, they may actually get a little overwhelmed. Getting from the start of the line all the way to the end may be a little much. So, try breaking each line into smaller parts. It's the same as splitting a bigger task into smaller, more manageable tasks. Just go ahead and use a crayon, marker, or whatever to make some noticeable dots or points on the line - one at the start, the middle, and the end or one at each corner or whatever feels right to you.  This way they just need to get from point A to point B and then from point B to point C and so on as opposed to from point A straight to point F.Give it a shot and see how that pre-writing goes now!
