MODIFICATIONS: On page 20 in that packet, you'll find the People and Food cutting/gluing/sorting activity. The idea is that your kiddo cuts the squares out from the bottom of the paper and then glues the people in the people box and the food in the food box. I've mentioned some good cutting and gluing tips in the past. The links to those are at the bottom of this post. So, let's get right to the sorting. Those boxes up on top are labelled, all right. But, they're labeled with words. Since your little one probably doesn't know how to read just yet, we are counting on his ability to be able to pay attention to what you tell him each box is for and then counting on him to remember that label throughout the course of the activity. If you child is not one to be able to keep that information in his noggin, go ahead and draw a little picture of a person next to the word, "People," and some sort of food (maybe an apple or something simple like that) next to the word, "Food." The pictures do not have to be very impressive or detailed at all. Just their presence alone can make a huge difference. Additionally, you can also ask you child to identify where each piece is going to be placed prior to adding glue and placing it. In this way, he can focus completely on the sorting aspect at first and, only when he has done that, move on to the gluing.
