Terrific Thanksgiving Matching

This is one of the most basic worksheets that you'll find and, yet, it's just perfect! And with the Thanksgiving theme... it's no wonder I had to put it up on Mr. Mike TV. All Kids Network has put together a matching worksheet - just match the picture on the left side of the page with the one on the right.

MODIFICATIONS: If your kiddo seems to be having some trouble, is a little overwhelmed with this activity, or if you know that your little one has problems distinguishing between items in a group, I've got something that might help. Walk your child through the pictures in that left hand column, one at a time. For instance, you would point to the top picture, the cornucopia, and tell you child to, "look very closely at this picture." You can ask her to tell you the name of the object or the color or you can help this part along by telling her that, "it's yellow and it has some fruit and a pumpkin coming out of it." Now, have your child look at the right hand column and, one by one, help her look at each picture, from the top to the bottom, searching for the match, revisiting those facts that you both mentioned about the original picture. This is going to help a child who may have some trouble with visual discrimination hone her skills a little bit and get some good practice coping with a confusing task.

Remember, more often than not, modifications are not about working to correct a problem, they're about teaching a child to develop the skill set that they have to be able to interpret the world.
